FAQ
First, you will be given the option for a 15-minute video chat, at no cost to you. Some prefer this option as a “meet and greet” before deciding to schedule a therapy session; others decline because they rather just start. There is no right or wrong way to begin.
For individual therapy, we will meet via a secure video platform (called Owl Practice) and review a letter of agreement so you can ask me any questions and/or concerns you may have prior to consenting to and engaging in services. Together, we will decide a plan for therapy, based on your needs and preferences.
Details regarding Narratives in Nature and Therapy Retreats will be provided when available.
A typical individual therapy session is 50 minutes in length at the rate of $185. If preferred, 80-minute sessions can be scheduled at the rate of $245. Please note that as of June 20, 2024, Registered Psychotherapists were exempt from having to charge and pay HST in accordance with CRA guidelines. Therefore, the fees above represent the total price charged to the client.
Some availability for sliding fee-scale (reduced-rate) options. If you do not have benefits, please inquire. If there are no sliding-fee spots currently available, low-cost referrals will be offered and/or you can be added to my sliding-scale waitlist, if preferred.
Fees are accepted via credit card or e-transfer. Receipts are provided that can be submitted to insurance companies, if you have access to benefits.
Are you going to be annoyed if I answer "it takes as long as it takes"? The truest answer is that since every client's openness, experiences, internal/external resources, etc. is unique, so should be their expected therapy timeline. That being said, we can discuss a meaningful and realistic plan that fits with what you hope to gain and assess progress, modifying as needed. I have experience providing both brief and long-term psychotherapy (ranging from effective single sessions to years of work).
It is natural to wonder whether therapy will work or not. It is also important to note that I cannot make you change and I will not “fix” you. I do not pretend to know you better than you know yourself. But, I have the tools and skills to be curious about and offer alternate perspectives/practices, hold space, and support you in growing your wisdom to determine what you need and identify/plan for barriers as you make your way there.
If at any time, either of us feels that I am not the right therapist for you, my preference is to discuss this as part of the therapeutic process, but you have every right to simply “ghost” me if that is more helpful to you - and I get that. I won’t ghost you though. It is, however, important to me that you have the best help possible, and for this reason, I will let you know upfront if I feel that is not me. In these cases, I will provide referral options and offer to consult with a new therapist if you wish to assist with the transition and prevent the “starting over” feeling.
Although therapy approaches will be discussed and consented to during our work, you may find the following descriptions helpful or interesting (or not!):
